What is IMEI?
The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique number that identifies mobile phones. Dual SIM phones will have two IMEI numbers (see below).
The IMEI is only used to identify the device and is not permanent or semi-permanently related to the subscriber. The number is used by the GSM network to identify valid devices and can, therefore, be used to stop a stolen phone from accessing the network in that country.
3 ways to check your IMEI
1 - Dial *#06# on the device
The IMEI can be displayed on the phone's screen by entering *#06# into the keypad on most phones. It can also be printed inside the phone's battery compartment.
2 - Find your IMEI number on the box of your phone:
3 - Find your IMEI number in the phone settings
Go to phone settings
Then select the "General"
In the "About" field, you will find your iPhone IMEI
On some iPhones, you can check the IMEI number on the SIM card tray.
In some iPhone models, the IMEI number is engraved on the back cover.
Your IMEI number is important to identify your device and get it blacklisted in case it is stolen - this is necessary whenever claiming for cell phones.
