The Fine Print That’s Worth Your Time

Most policyholders understand the big-ticket items in their coverage, but a few smaller details can make a big difference.

Consultant Remuneration — Transparency Matters

Our consultants are full-time employees, paid a salary plus performance-based bonuses for productivity and service quality. This cost is built into your premium; it’s not a separate commission.

South African Law Applies

Your policy is governed exclusively by South African law, and any disputes will be resolved in South African courts.

“Total Loss” — More Than Just a Write-Off

We define a Total Loss as:

  • A stolen or hijacked vehicle that isn’t recovered.

  • Damage so severe it’s not economical to repair.

Your payout is based on your chosen Insured Value Type (Retail or Specified Value).

Specific Exclusions to Note

  • Pre-existing damage – Anything that existed before your policy started isn’t covered.
Grid failure – No cover for losses caused by power cuts, blackouts, or utility shutdowns.

  • Stolen or counterfeit goods – No cover for losses involving illegal or counterfeit property, whether you knew or not.

  • Keys in unsafe places – Leaving keys in an insecure spot or with someone not responsible for your car can void related claims.

  • Domestic disputes – Losses from disputes between household members or cohabitants aren’t covered.

Bottom line: Knowing these details means fewer surprises and smarter cover management.
