We would like to make your life as easy as possible..
However, we have an obligation to protect the community by not paying out illegitimate claims and to uphold the law.
Here is what you need to know:
We have the right to request a police report for thefts, losses, or burglaries. If you would like to avoid us asking for this, building a strong network with a good track record is a good place to start. If you and your connections have a history of behaving well, we can be sure to trust that you are not being fraudulent.
In some cases, we do not have a choice. When cell phones are reported as lost or stolen, we have to, by law, request a case number.
If you are unsure of whether you should include a case number for a claim, let's break it down:
All-Risk (Single Items): You'll be expected to provide an SAPS-approved affidavit for a theft or attempted theft claim.
Comprehensive car insurance: You'll be expected to provide an accident report, the third party's contact details, vehicle information (i.e. make, model, etc.) and as much information relating to the incident as possible.
