What Your Portable Valuables Are Protected Against

Your All-Risk policy is built for the things you carry with you (from phones to racquets to laptops). Life happens, and when it does, this section explains what kinds of “Covered Events” keep you protected. Think of it as the rulebook for when your valuables are safe under our umbrella.

Core Covered Events

Your insured items are covered against accidental loss, theft, and damage from a wide range of events. The big ones include:

  • Accidental loss: When something you own is unintentionally misplaced or disappears. (Yes, that counts too.)

  • Theft: Protection if your items are unlawfully taken.

  • Damage from specific events, like:

    • Fire, lightning, explosion.

    • Storms, floods, wind, hail, snow.

    • Malicious damage — someone deliberately messing with your stuff.

    • Accidental damage — the everyday, unplanned kind.

Worldwide Cover

One of the best features of this policy: your items are protected anywhere in the world. So whether your laptop gets nicked in Cape Town or damaged in Paris, you’ve still got cover.

Specific Item Conditions

Some items come with extra fine print (the practical kind, not the “hide it in the corner” kind).

  • Items stolen from vehicles: You’ll need visible signs of forced entry, and the item must’ve been locked away in a glove compartment, boot, or (for LDVs) concealed under a proper hard-wearing cover or locked canopy. Leaving valuables on the seat in plain view doesn’t cut it.

  • Cellphones: To claim, the phone must be blacklisted with the Equipment Identity Register (EIR) and linked to its IMEI. This helps prevent fraud and improves recovery chances.

Not every loss looks the same, and not every item has the same rules. Whether it’s a stolen cellphone, a cracked camera lens, or a damaged surfboard, understanding these details now means you won’t be surprised later.
