In insurance, “material information” refers to the kind of details an insurer would need to properly assess your risk. And by “assess your risk”, we mean when an insurer is trying to figure out how likely you are to make a claim and how expensive that claim might be. For All-Risk cover, material information can be:
Changing your home address (yes, your address counts — crime rates and risk differ by area).
A shift in your financial situation (things like judgments or debt can affect your risk profile).
Previous claims or cancelled policies.
If this info isn’t updated or the details we have on record aren’t accurate, Pineapple may reject a claim or even treat your policy as invalid. Worst case, your policy can be voided (treated like it never existed). In plain English: old info = no payout.
When in doubt, update. It’s easier to tweak details now than have a claim declined later because of outdated information.
