What is Pineapple Juice?

Pineapple Juice is a discretionary premium refund paid retrospectively at the end of each Pineapple Year (January 1st to December 31st).

Think of it as a cashback bonus for playing by the rules: if the Pineapple community’s claims are lower than expected and there are enough funds after expenses, eligible members get a slice of the surplus.

It’s not guaranteed, but when the community thrives, so do you.

Who’s Eligible?

To qualify for “Your Portion” of the Juice, you need to tick three boxes for the entire Pineapple Year:

  1. Uninterrupted Cover
    – Your policy must remain active without gaps.
    – Cancel midway through the year? Sorry, no Juice for you.

  2. No Claims
    – If you claim during the year, you’re out of Juice eligibility.
    – The philosophy: claims reduce the communal pot available for refunds.

  3. Timely Premium Payments
    – Every premium must be paid on time.
    – Missed or late payments = no eligibility.

These rules encourage responsible behaviour and reward members who help keep overall claims costs low.

Why Pineapple Juice Exists

The programme is built on the principle of shared risk.

  • Insurance pools premiums from many people to cover the few who claim.

  • If claims are lower than expected, instead of Pineapple keeping all the gains, we share a portion back with policyholders who didn’t claim.

  • It transforms insurance into something more collaborative and community-driven.

Unlike a traditional “no-claims bonus,” Pineapple Juice looks at both community performance and individual responsibility.

Examples of Behaviours That Help

  • Motor policyholders: Driving safely, avoiding DUIs, parking in secure places.

  • Household contents policyholders: Maintaining alarms, securing doors, updating cover when moving homes.

  • General policyholders: Avoiding careless mistakes that lead to claims (like leaving keys in an unlocked car).

When you take precautions, you not only protect yourself but also contribute to the community’s overall risk management boosting the chances of Juice for everyone.

How to Maximise Your Juice

  • Pay premiums on time: Set up debit orders and ensure funds are available.

  • Take care of your stuff: Lock it, protect it, maintain it.

  • Avoid claims where possible: If a loss is small and affordable to handle yourself, choosing not to claim helps the entire community.

  • Stay informed: Keep up to date with your cover and responsibilities.
